Haringay Station

Harringay Station, Harringay, London. Shot on Tuesday 19th October 2010.

The ticket office at Harringay Station is little more than a shed perched high above the railway tracks on huge steel beams.  The elements have taken their toll on the wooden and combined with its elevated position the ticket office looks like a container washed up after a maritime disaster marooned high up by some long retreated freak high tide.

Ideally I would have liked to have had someone on the platform to tie the picture to this day and age, but the light, colours and strong forms of the image still caught my eye despite this.

Since first posting this picture, I’ve been directed to an article on HarringayOnline.com (you have to register to read it) which describes the history of the station. The original fine Victorian booking office burned down in the 1960′s and the current wooden shack was put up in 1975. This would explain the huge size of the girders compared to the relatively small structure of the building atop them.
